“At the edge of the sky”, Giannandrea Carpanzano, Italy, 2020, 8’

Three young trail runners undertake the challenge of running the route of the Creste della Valle Strona, a 60km route, with 5500m elevation gain, located above Lake Orta in Northern Italy. The documentary follows the 12-hour run of the three runners, from 4am to 4pm, chronicling their emotions along hard ascents and steep descents and showing breathtaking mountain views. The aim of this documentary is not only to report on the challenge met by the young athletes but also on the friendship that binds them, the affection that led them to share in this adventure and their love for their land. The three athletes dedicated this enterprise to the memory of a friend who died prematurely, one of the few trail runners who had completed the whole route of the Creste della Valle Strona before them.
