"Up there on top", Giovanni Grossi, Italy, 2024, 18'

This documentary aims to introduce Alberto Bighellini, welcoming the viewer into his world. What does it really mean to run a mountain refuge at high altitude? We will discover a world made up of positive aspects, such as the natural context in which Alberto works, the people he is surrounded by, the charm of his lifestyle. However, there will also be difficult aspects of his work, which are rarely thought of: the inaccessibility of the refuge, the inconveniences related to supplies, the management of water and other resources. We will get to know Alberto through the reflections and anecdotes he recounts in camera, to the situations he will find himself in during the year. We will see him shoveling snow to clear the entrance to the refuge, skiing with his dog Barto down Monte Stivo, getting into a helicopter to transport the supplies to the refuge, take orders and serve tables during a dinner when the refuge is full. We understand where Alberto finds the strength to do what he does. What drives him, year after year, to run his refuge.
