4000m from home - WIP, Pierre Cadot, France, 2026, 64'

For over twenty years, Vivian Bruchez has pursued a singular vision: to ski all 82 Alpine summits above 4000 meters in the Alps. An undertaking of extraordinary scale, driven by patience, commitment, friends and a lifelong relationship with the mountains.

But as the project nears completion, something begins to shift.

What once felt like a pure exploration slowly reveals a more fragile balance. The desire to finish, to complete the list, starts to blur the limits Vivian once believed were clear. In the silence and exposure of the high Alps, the mountains become more than a terrain of adventure — they become a mirror.

Far from the traditional story of conquest and achievement, 4000m From Home is an intimate portrait of a man confronting his own contradictions: the pull to keep going, and the growing awareness of everything that waits below. Between high moments of fun, shared moments, risk, and the thought of returning home, Vivian discovers that no great journey leaves a person untouched.

Because nothing truly immense is achieved without leaving a part of yourself behind.

Part mountain film, part personal reflection, 4000m From Home explores the rare moment when vulnerability becomes more meaningful than accomplishment.
