The jury for category "Best Ecology Film''

The category "Best Ecology Film'' we have had for 4 years now. We are not hiding our admiration for the rich work done by the Macedonian Ecological Society and we are not hiding our happiness that they continue to be our partner in many different program activities at the festival - including the competition segment. Again, members of the Macedonian Ecological Society will choose the winner - the Best Ecology Film at Echo 2022.

The jury this year:

Frosina Pandurska-Dramikjanin, Project Coordinator in Macedonian Ecological Society.
Frosina's field of interest is social science and she holds a Master’s degree in social science and management of social change from the University of Skopje “Ss. Cyril and Methodius”. She has been part of the Macedonian Ecological Society team since 2011. Previous to her engagement with MES she worked for five years as a reporter in the national agency MIA and the bilingual TV station ALSAT-M.  During her journalistic career she was awarded with five journalistic national and international awards. She has also worked as a public relations officer for national and regional projects on various subjects. Her current engagement in MES is in the Communications and People and Nature Program. Additionally, she has the opportunity to be involved in educational activities and projects related with research of natural resource use and raising awareness for protected areas. Since 2015 she is an active member of the Platform Friends of Shara, which was formed with the aim – to lobby Shar Mountain to be proclaimed as a national park.

Danka Uzunova, Macedonian Ecological Society
Lived half of her life in Gevgelija. Interest in nature and all its living creatures developed in her early childhood years, and led her to pursue ecology and study of birds professionally. Working with the Macedonian Ecological Society for over 10 years, she has contributed to the development of ornithology (the scientific branch studying birds) in Macedonia. Her most noted contribution is towards the improved knowledge of wintering waterbirds, and to the development of the 2nd European Breeding Bird Atlas. She currently acts as a representative for the International Waterbird Census coordinators for Western Palearctic.

Aleksandar Pavlov, Project Assistant in the Macedonian Ecological Society
Aleksandar was born in 1986 in Skopje. By training he is a linguist and biologist. He has a long-term experience as a translator and interpreter in English and Macedonian. As of 2018 he works in the Macedonian Ecological Society on the Balkan Lynx Recovery Programme. In his line of work, he fights for this rare subspecies through education in primary schools and making efforts for the declaration of protected areas in the country. He is frequently in nature, conducting field research of large carnivores and small mammals, and he also takes part in other activities of the Society.

Arta Starova, Macedonian Ecological Society
Arta works at the Macedonian Ecological Society as a project assistant since 2020. Her work involves combating wildlife poisoning with a focus on vulture conservation and protection in the country. She also works in supporting local initiatives for more sustainable future development in the Shara/Korab-Koritnik region. Starova graduated in the Netherlands with a multi-disciplinary Bachelors focusing on
environmental science, sociology and human geography. She has a passion for transhumant shepherding as well as the relations between humans and their surrounding environment. Arta believes that an interdisciplinary approach to ecology enriches one’s knowledge about the multifaceted nature of the world.
